​KathyJane Huntey, age 78 of Calash, North Carolina passed away on January 30, 2026. She was born on February 3, 1947 in Lakewood, New Jersey to Donald B Whiteman and Bergliot Endersen.

​Kathy was raised on the beach at Seaside, N.J. where she also attended her elementary school (skipping the 5th grade!) Her years of Junior and Senior High School would be at Central Regional in Bayville, N.J. graduating in 1964. Quite active –co captain of the cheerleaders (Go Eagles) –voted most school spirit-Girls state –National Honor Society –and of course chorus!

​Onto Montclair State College where she completed her Bachelor Degree in Physical Education & Health. She was very active in her beloved sorority Delta Omicron Pi. She was constantly participating in numerous athletic clubs.

Graduating in 1968.

​Kathy taught with pride and dedication-Physical Education –Health –Driver Education in the Toms River schools in N.J. Also coached cheerleaders –girl’s gymnastics and track for 32 years retiring in 2000. In March of 1976 she married the love of her life & best friend John. She was always a devoted wife –mother-G’Mom –sister & friend.

She loved living &enjoyed life –running-biking –skiing- golfing-walking on the boardwalk & of course this “beach girl” loved the sand & surf.

​Unquestionably a woman of deep faith as we shared 30 years as members of Manahawkin Baptist in N.J. & 20 years at First Baptist of North Myrtle Beach. She was dedicated to singing to the Lord –member of both choirs. Also active in our Kindred Spirit Sunday School Class serving as secretary and Social (party) director.

​Surviving in addition to her beloved husband of 50 years John, are their sons Aaron & Derek & his wife Holly-their children –our grandchildren Jackson & Helena. Her sisters –Diane Camburn & Joanne Whiteman & brother Donald Whiteman & his wife Gail. Brothers & sisters in –law Dennis & LaVerne Kiester & Dennis & Kelly Huntey along with many wonderful nieces & nephews

​Visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00 on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach- 200 Hwy S North Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29582. A funeral service will follow at 12:00.

​In lieu of flowers, the family suggest making memorial donation to First Baptist Church Building Fund, - 200 Hwy S North Myrtle Beach S.C. 29582
