Kelly T Hughes

Kelly Thomas Hughes lost his life suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 60 in his home in Blue Springs, MO on March 25, 2024.

Kelly had an outlook and a sense of humor that would blanket the room upon his arrival to any gathering he attended. His mere presence brought joy to family and friends as new and treasured memories were made through conversations, ideas, brain storming, or just appreciation for the lives that intertwined with him throughout the years. Kelly's bellowing laugh was highly contagious. He brought smiles to faces where frowns previously were.

Kelly was highly intelligent, a deep thinker, and an empathetic listener. He was a true and loyal friend to many.

Kelly was also an amazing lover of dogs. Several times throughout his life he saved a canine soul through rescue or offering a stray a permanent place to lay their head. He has been known to say that his dog, Phoebe, was "the love of his life" .

An avid sports fan and a native of Chicago, IL, Kelly remained loyal (sometimes painfully) to his Chicago teams. It seemed that no matter where he laid his head at night, his heart belonged to Chicago.

Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, The late Thomas C Hughes and the late Violet E Hughes (nee Plato) as well as his sister, Kimberly S Ailport.

He is survived by his nieces and nephew Jessica Walker (nee Hughes), Cassandra and Jacob Ailport.

He is also survived by several cousins and extended family members who will forever miss them in their hearts.
