Kelly Marie Kovac, age 59, passed away peacefully on March 25th, just nine days after learning she had cancer that had metastasized to her brain. She was surrounded by the love and presence of her family and her partner in life.
Kelly was the second child of Janice C. Cudney and the late Joseph S. Kovac, and beloved sister to Dawn Berkshire (Lonnie), Jill Laverdiere (John), Joseph Kovac (Amy), and Todd Kovac (Miranda). She is also survived by her partner, Jason Oney; her cherished fur-babies Opie, Lola, Macy, and Shakes; Albert Yutzy; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; cousins; friends; and the many others who lovingly called her "Aunt Kelly."
Kelly grew up in Parma, OH, proud to be a Valley Forge Patriot. Shortly after graduation, she married Al Yutzy and moved to the Wooster/Ashland area, where they shared 36 years together and parted as friends. She worked in inside sales for industrial fastener distributors—most recently with General Fasteners Company. The kind words shared by her customers and co-workers speak volumes about her dedication and work ethic.
Life brought Kelly to Jason Oney, who matched her sarcasm, quick wit, and zest for life. They brought each other tremendous joy in the life they were building and the time they shared.
"Aunt Kelly" could often be found at a track, field, or stage, cheering on the kids who meant so much to her. She touched countless lives with her kindness, made friends wherever she went (Bon Jovi groupies unite!), and cherished every relationship. Always ready to help or listen, she was someone you could truly count on.
Kelly loved her pups and kitten, live music, home improvement projects, the beach, balloon glow, CLE Browns/ Cavs/ Indians (will always be Indians), O-H-I-O, gardening, the county fair, finding a bargain, cheering from the stands, celebrating life's moments, and most of all, being connected to those in her life.
Kelly was taken far too soon and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. As one of five children in a close-knit family, we are often told how rare it is to see such a large family be so close. We know how special our bond is and never take it for granted. That same bond makes the loss of Kelly feel immeasurable. The prayers and support shared with us have been a source of strength, and we are deeply grateful.
Please join us in celebrating Kelly's life on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 696 Lafayette Road, Medina, OH 44256.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Kelly by supporting your local animal shelter or rescue through volunteering, donating, or adopting.
