Kenneth Hill Clinton was born on August 31, 1952, in East Chicago, Indiana, to Margaret Shelton and Casey Clinton. From the very beginning, Kenneth carried a quiet strength, a deep sense of responsibility, and an unwavering love for his family that defined his life.
Kenneth believed in bettering himself and setting an example through hard work and perseverance. He attended Ivy Tech, earning his GED and later an associate degree in HVAC—proving that determination and discipline can open doors at any stage in life. He devoted 17 years of service to the Gary Housing Authority, where he took pride in doing his job well and helping others live safely and comfortably. His commitment to service extended further as he served as a Reserve Officer with the City of Gary Police Department, a role that reflected his desire to protect and give back to his community.
Kenneth was united in marriage to Sharon Hutton November 20, 2016, with whom he shared his life and family and together they built a blended family rooted in love, loyalty, and resilience. Above all else, Kenneth was a family man. He loved deeply and showed up consistently—for his wife, his children, and the generations that followed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret (Willie James) Shelton and Casey Clinton, his siblings Freddie Wilson, Clyde Wilson, Charles Shelton, Jeffery Shelton, Keddrick Shelton, William Shelton and grandchildren Kiara Smith, Iyuan Yarbrought and Elijah Newson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Sharon Hutton Clinton; his siblings Virginia Patton, Christiania Murrell (Perry), Janice Willams, Timothy Shelton (Demetria), Margaret Shelton, William Shelton, Stacy Shelton, Stephen Shelton, and Corey Shelton; Mother-in-Love Catherine Houseworth and Sister-in-Love Janora Holmes; with a large circle of extended family and friends who were touched by his life.
Kenneth was a proud and devoted father to Kia Clinton; Christiaudria Clinton; Carmella Clinton; Kennita Clinton; Kenneth Clinton Jr.; Carla Clinton; Isaiah Clinton; Latonya George (husband Darren), Pamela Newson; Derrick Hutton-Kinsey; and Jorge Hutton. His children were his legacy, and he found joy in watching each of them grow into their own paths.
His heart overflowed with love for his grandchildren: Tyrika Smith; Ka-Shunia Jones (Elijah); Paradise Hutton (Christopher); Edwin Smith Jr. (Sara); Parish Martin; Marshae Lane; Kamari Clinton; Kamya Smith; Kaycee Clinton; Cali Mason; Paul Mason lV; Kenneth Clinton III; Sophia Clinton; Shari'a Clinton; Parker Kinsey. Even more, he delighted in his role as a great-grandfather to Ke'Ayla Hines; Kennedy Alexander; Morghan Hutton; Chase Jones; Ila Jones; Ru Jones; Roc Jones; Charley Alexander; and A'niah Lane.
Kenneth Hill Clinton will be remembered as a man of quiet strength, steady faith, and deep love. His presence was grounding, his guidance meaningful, and his love unwavering.
