Kenneth Wane "Ken" Thomason, 71, passed away on January 2, 2026. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Ken lived a life of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

He is survived by his loving wife Malissa of 37 years; their son Austin; their son Zachary and his wife Chelsea; his parents Jack and Mary Jo; his brothers and their wives John and Cristine, Michael and Judith, and Jack Jr. and Gwena; and his very loved nieces and nephews.

Born on September 20, 1954, in Austin, Texas, Ken was the son of Jack and Mary Jo Thomason. He grew up alongside his older brothers John and Michael and his younger brother Jack Jr.

Ken earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University before embarking on a distinguished career in finance and energy. He became a Certified Public Accountant and went on to serve as Chief Financial Officer and President in the oil and gas industry. As the owner of Thomason Petroleum Corporation, he brought integrity and vision to every endeavor. Ken also made history as the first Edward Jones Financial Advisor to open an office in Southlake Townsquare—a testament to his pioneering spirit and commitment to excellence—accomplished only with the teamwork of his exceptional office administrator, and part of the family, Ms. Lorie Vagher.

Before beginning his professional career, Ken served with honor in the United States Marine Corps, where he led his platoon with courage and conviction. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of duty and resilience that remained with him throughout his life.

Ken's greatest joy came from the life he built with his beloved wife Missy. Together they raised two sons—Austin and Zachary—whom he adored beyond measure. Ken coached every little league team his boys played on, never missing a practice. Whether on the field or at home, he was always present—teaching lessons not just about sports or academics but about character, kindness, and faith.

He taught his sons how to love like Jesus—not just through words but through daily acts of generosity and grace. Ken had an extraordinary gift for making people feel seen and valued. He lit up every room he entered with laughter and warmth, forging friendships wherever he went. His joy was infectious; his presence unforgettable.

Ken loved deeply and lived fully. He cherished quiet moments with Missy just as much as lively gatherings with friends or outings on the golf course. His legacy is one of boundless love—a life spent giving more than he took and lifting others higher simply by being himself.

May Kenny Thomason’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him—and may we all strive to live with the same joy-filled heart that defined his remarkable life. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 6, 2026, at 01:00 PM at White's Chapel Methodist Church, 185 S. White Chapel Blvd. Southlake, Texas.
