Kevin M. Carmichael, 73, of Edwardsburg, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, in the comfort of his home on Eagle Lake. Born on September 8, 1952, in Dearborn, Michigan, Kevin lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and love for his family and passions.

Kevin graduated from Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn in 1970 before attending the U.S. Military Academy at West Point for a time. He later pursued higher education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, earning his Psychology and Chemistry degrees as part of the Class of 1976. His academic journey continued at Michigan State University from 1977 to 1979, where he studied Animal Husbandry. These formative years laid the foundation for his early career as an Animal Nutritionist with major livestock feed companies across the country.

After relocating to South Bend, Indiana, Kevin transitioned into a new career as a Certified Financial Advisor. For three decades, he worked with Ameriprise Financial Services, serving clients in both the South Bend area and Michigan City. His dedication and expertise earned him respect and trust within his community. In 2012, Kevin retired and in 2015 embraced a quieter life with his beloved wife and best friend Sue at their home on Eagle Lake in Edwardsburg.

Kevin was a man of many talents and interests. An avid fisherman and skilled upland game-bird hunter, he found joy exploring the inland lakes and islands of Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. His love for Labrador Retrievers was well-known among those close to him. Kevin also cherished time spent snorkeling, saltwater fishing, and sailing through the Caribbean Islands with friends and family. At home on Eagle Lake, he delighted in evening pontoon cruises and creating laughter-filled memories as he navigated waves for tubing adventures with his granddaughters and their friends.

A lover of culture and beauty, Kevin enjoyed attending performances at the Lyric Opera in Chicago with Sue and took pride in cultivating stunning flower gardens around their home. His life was enriched by these pursuits that brought him closer to nature and those he loved.

Kevin is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Sue; daughter Brenna (Eric) Navarro; granddaughters Kayla Packer and Sonia Navarro; brothers Patrick (Linda) Carmichael and Kelly (Maria) Carmichael; sister Lori (Jeff) Carmichael; sister-in-law Dianne Bright; nieces Christina Bright, Melissa Neal, Stacey Carmichael Johns; nephews Dakota Klein, Wyatt Klein, and Morgan Klein and Kelly Carmichael Jr., as well as extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his daughters Shawna Carmichael, Ashley Carmichael, and Kerry Carmichael; parents Frank and Loretta Carmichael; parents-in-law Thomas and Joan Clauss; sister-in-law Patricia Clauss Frick; and other cherished loved ones who undoubtedly welcomed him into eternal peace.

Kevin’s legacy is one of love for family, passion for life’s adventures, and an enduring appreciation for nature’s beauty. He loved his daughter and granddaughters "to the moon and back." May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. He fought the good fight.

Family and friends may gather on Thursday May 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 24832 US-12 East, Edwardsburg. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM and a light luncheon in the Church Hall afterward. Interment will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Southfield, MI at a future date, not yet determined.

Arrangements by Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg, Mi.
