July 20, 1956 - December 28, 2025
Kevin Ernest Nield, 69, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 28, 2025. Born July 20, 1956, in Indianapolis to Phyllis and Donald Nield, Kevin was the beloved brother to many brothers and one sister. He cherished his childhood, growing up alongside his siblings, forming memories that lasted his entire life.
Kevin was a dedicated supervisor at Carrier, where he worked for many years until his retirement. He was a valued colleague who made lasting friendships with his coworkers.
A die-hard Indiana sports fan, Kevin's heart belonged to the Colts, Pacers, and IU Hoosiers—especially during the Bobby Knight years. He was a true fan and supporter, except when it came to Purdue, which he loved to playfully tease. Kevin had a deep admiration for NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon as well.
Known for his quick wit and legendary dad jokes, Kevin brought laughter and joy to everyone around him. One of his favorite traditions was watching A Christmas Story every Christmas Eve; he would laugh as if seeing it for the very first time, year after year.
Kevin loved spending time on the golf course and catching up with friends at the Checkered Flag, where he was always up for Fish Fridays or a classic Indiana tenderloin sandwich. These simple pleasures, along with the camaraderie of good friends, brought him great happiness.
He is survived by his only sister, April Nield, alongside 5 brothers as well as his children, Jessica Nield and Jacqueline Nield including 3 grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter and kindness, and the memories he made with those he loved will be cherished forever.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Donald "Pick" Nield; his mother, Phyllis Johnson; his grandmother, Ethel "Maws" Brunton; and brothers Terry Bland and Jeffery Nield. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
A memorial service will be planned for a future date; details will be shared with family and friends.
