Kim Helen Smith, 66, of Deerfield Beach, FL, died peacefully in her residence on December 20, 2025. Kim was the daughter of the late Luther H. and Kathryn (Green) Smith of Palmerton, PA.
Born on June 16, 1959, Kim graduated from Palmerton Area High School and Penn State University and took additional courses to become a certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Kim moved to Florida in 1989 where she worked at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and other Florida health facilities.
Kim enjoyed horticulture and integrated it into her therapies at work. She grew orchids and a variety of citrus and tropical fruits on her small piece of property.
Kim's career ended abruptly on the evening of September 14, 2014 when she was rear-ended in an accident that left her hospitalized for more than a year. After many surgeries, physical therapy and hard work, she was able to provide childcare for her grandson several days each month.
In addition to her parents, Kim was predeceased by her brother Luther Jr. and sister Diane. She is survived by her son Daniel (Rebecca); grandsons Skyler and Cash; brothers Michael (Marilyn) and Bruce (Tracy); as well as nephews and a niece and their spouses, and children.
