Kimberly Jean Woodward passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Charleston, WV on December 30, 1954, Kim was the daughter of the late William James Artrip II and Phyllis Jean Hoff Artrip. Kim grew up in Southside, WV and graduated from Point Pleasant High School, a member of the "Proud and Free Class of 1973."
Kim married John "Woody" Woodward in the beautiful setting of her family home in 1987. They lived in Fairmont, WV where Chelsea Jean was born in 1988 and John Davidson II in 1992, and then made their home in Ravenswood, WV. They remember their mom and dad bringing lots of laughter and joy not only to their home, but also the lives of friends and neighbors. "It felt like being wrapped in a warm blanket of happiness."
Kim's life was a testament to resilience when Woody died unexpectedly in 2003. She continued to be a constant presence at all of John and Chelsea's school functions and trips. Their class was always excited when Kim went on a school trip with them because they all absolutely loved her. Friends also loved to come to their house to hang out because Kim was the "sweetest and coolest" mom.
Kim was a diehard Mountaineer fan. Sports was a favorite pastime. She loved watching any sport, but primarily Mountaineer football and basketball. Most of all, she was there for any sport John and Chelsea played. This devotion to family continued with her granddaughters, Maddie, Natalie, and Lydia. Rain or shine, she was always there to cheer them on. Attending their events was her passion.
Kim maintained strong friendships throughout her life, always reaching out to stay in touch and being there for friends when help was needed. Kim's smile would light up a room. Her laughter was frequent and would lift your heart.
Predeceased are her husband John Davidson Woodward, her parents William James Artrip ll and Phyllis Jean Hoff Artrip, father and mother-in-law, Joseph Davidson Woodward and Cynthia Taylor Woodward, and brother-in-law, Steven Game.
Surviving are her children Chelsea Jean Woodward and John Davidson Woodward II, grandchildren, Madalyn, Natalie, and Lydia Bragg, brother William "Bill" Artrip and wife, sisters-in-law, Carol Woodward Game and Susan (Richard) Haley.
