Larry W. Burns, 79, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was born on January 6, 1946 in Oneida, Kentucky, and passed peacefully on January 3, 2026.

Larry is survived by his devoted wife Susan (nee Ellwein) Burns of nearly 56 years. Beloved father of Michelle Burns (former son-in-law Heath Scheiman), Brandy (Steve) Angus, Eric Burns, Brian (Linda) Haggard. Devoted grandfather of Kayla, Brooklyn, Preston, Lincoln, Cody, Jack, Cole and Megan. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lena (nee McGee) Burns and his sister, Barb Campbell.

After graduating Norwood High School, Larry joined The United States Army where he honorably served two years. He worked for United Dairy Farmers for many years, where he had many adventures at “The Dairy." Larry also started his own successful business, B & B Painting and Remodeling, where he worked until retirement.

One would say that Larry never met a stranger. He was the king of small talk, stories and jokes. He was witty and had a wonderful dry, no nonsense sense of humor. He made friends wherever he went and always left them laughing.

In his later years, Larry began a new found love for Jesus and the church. In 2020, he was baptized at River’s Crossing Church in Deer Park. He faithfully attended there until he moved and began attending Crossroads East Side.

Larry was a father who loved to be involved in his children’s lives. He was a soccer coach for all of his children when they were young, and when he wasn’t coaching, he was on the sidelines cheering them on.

One of Larry’s prized titles was “Grampy”. There was a different light that turned on when he was with his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. He enjoyed vacations, playing games, wrestling, swimming, telling jokes, making fires, watching them play sports, and so many other things that filled his and his grandchildren’s hearts.

There will be a celebration of life in honor of Larry on February 28, 2026 at Crossroads Church East Side, 4450 Eastgate S Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45245, (513) 731-7400. The family will have a reception from 2:00pm - 3:30pm with a service beginning at 3:30.
