Larry Michael Kirkland, 75, passed away on February 25, 2026, in Corinth, TX. He was born on January 12, 1951, in Beaufort, SC. He leaves behind a legacy as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, remembered for his intellectual curiosity, broad-mindedness, tolerance, loyalty, and steadiness.
Larry graduated from Beaufort Academy in 1969 and went on to earn his BS degree from Wofford College in 1973, followed by further studies at Georgia State University in 1973-74. His professional life was marked by a respected career as a life insurance actuary, where he worked at Integon Life in Winston Salem, NC, and Aegon USA in St. Petersburg, FL.
In his private life, Larry was known as a Renaissance Man and excelled at Trivial Pursuit. It was not unusual for him to answer 20 or more questions before ceding his turn. He was a dedicated lifelong learner who also enjoyed woodworking and fishing. These hobbies provided him not just with relaxation but also an opportunity to connect with nature and indulge in his creative pursuits.
Larry was a devoted family man, survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen Kirkland; sons, Jason Kirkland (Chantal) and Drew Kirkland; mother-in-law, Dolores McKenna; sister-in-law, Elinda McKenna (Ray Levy); grandchildren; nephew, Richard Kirkland (Jackie), and brother, Ernest Kirkland Jr (Cathy). He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Jackson Kirkland Sr. and Bennie Lois Youmans Kirkland.
