Obituary for Larry Grant Smith
Larry Grant Smith, age 77, of Hilliard, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025. He was a quiet, honorable, and deeply talented man whose steady presence and gentle spirit touched all who knew him.
Born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Rosston, Pennsylvania. Larry spent much of his life in Kittanning and Ford City, where he was employed at Eljer. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication—qualities that carried through every part of his life. In his spare time, Larry found peace and joy in woodworking and restoring items he discovered along the way, giving new life to things others might overlook—much like the care and patience he showed to those around him.
Larry is deeply missed by his loving wife, JoAnn Smith; his daughters, Michele Smith (Tom), Jennifer Leibold, Betty Belles (Larry), Tammy Smith (Bill), and Dixie Butler (Ty); his 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and joy to him. He is also survived by his brothers, Randy (Beth) Smith and Mark (Elda) Smith, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Smith and Annabelle "Millie" Smith, and is now reunited with them, along with other cherished relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Peeples Funeral Home, located at 14165 North Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida.
For those who are unable to attend in person, the service will be live-streamed. Details for accessing the live stream will be shared by the family.
Larry Grant Smith will be remembered for his peaceful nature, skilled hands, and the quiet love he shared with his family and friends.
