Larry R. Timko passed away at home surrounded by his family on November 18th, at the age of 90. He was born in Pittsburg, PA to Andrew and Julia Timko and moved to CA at a young age.
He attended Beamer and Dingle Elementary Schools and graduated from Woodland High School in 1954. Larry was quite the track star earning the Jay Sehorn Award in 1954 for which his track records are still displayed at WHS. He was also a notable football player, playing all four years at WHS. After graduation he attended UC Davis. As a freshman he played half back in the first annual Causeway Classic, winning 14 to 0.
Larry spent many years in the grain trailer manufacturing business and owned and operated Larry's Manufacturing and Welding in Woodland for more than 20 years.
Larry's passion was in auto racing. He was involved in drag racing, hard top racing and sprint cars for two local drivers, Gary Koster and Ray Wise.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Julia Timko, his infant daughter Jennifer and sister-in-law Cheryl Fowler. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Michele, son Andy (Deena), daughter Lenore, grandson Mason and granddaughter Julia. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Barry Matter (Elizabeth), brother-in-law Michael Fowler and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 17, 2026, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 625 W. Gibson Road, Woodland at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow at Willow Oak Hall on Road 97.
