Larry Joseph Winslow, 87, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, in Kent, Washington. Born on July 9, 1938, in Ridgway, Pennsylvania, Larry lived a life marked by brilliance, humility, and an unwavering devotion to his family and community.
A proud graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and Indiana Technical College, Larry earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautic Engineering. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a distinguished career at Boeing, where he rose through the ranks to become Vice President of Engineering for Defense and Space. Known for his multifaceted leadership and sharp intellect, Larry managed large teams with integrity and vision until his retirement in 2001.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Larry was a devoted husband to Roselyn Winslow for over 67 years. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Whether traveling across the globe—kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland or walking the Great Wall of China—or hosting gatherings at their home in Kent, Larry and Ros created countless cherished memories. He was her steadfast supporter during her nursing school years and later accompanied her to antique events where he made fast friends with everyone he met.
Larry’s greatest joy came from being a father and grandfather. He coached his sons’ soccer teams, taught his daughter how to throw a softball, and always made time to cook dinner for his younger children. A passionate sports enthusiast, he loved playing volleyball and fastpitch softball in his younger years and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his kids and grandkids from the sidelines.
He is survived by his beloved wife Roselyn; daughter Lainey Downs (husband Kenny); son Kevin Winslow; son David Winslow (wife Patricia); grandchildren Jason Downs (wife Cathy), Candice Downs, Katy Winslow, Spencer Winslow, and Aubrey Winslow; great-grandchildren Evie and Kenny; and sister Jane Coudriet.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Elizabeth Winslow; brothers Robert Winslow and Ray Winslow; and sister Joan Marshall.
In recent years, Larry resided at Arbor Village Memory Care where he was a favorite among staff. Even as he faced the challenges of Parkinson’s disease in its final stages, his warmth and people-loving nature continued to shine through.
A family service for Larry will be held on February 14, 2026 at Washington Memorial Park in SeaTac, Washington. A Celebration of Life will later be held on April 3, 2026 from 1 to 3:30 pm in Kent, Washington in the clubhouse at Meridian Valley Country Club.
Larry Winslow will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched— and the family who loved him greatly. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
