Lauren Carole Maston, 46, of Manchester, CT, passed away on December 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 6, 1979, Lauren was the beloved daughter of Brenda Goodwin Maston and John Maston. She grew up in Bolton and graduated from Bolton High School with the Class of 1998. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree in graphic design and marketing from Central Connecticut State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2002, and later earned her Master's in Social Work from the University of Connecticut in 2015.
Lauren was the definition of resilience. At the age of 13, she was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma—a battle she fought bravely for two years. Though she overcame the cancer, the effects of her treatments shaped the rest of her life, leading to congestive heart failure and a heart transplant at 29, the loss of function in one lung, and later, a successful fight against breast cancer at 42. Despite every challenge placed before her, Lauren met life with extraordinary optimism, humor, and determination.
Lauren used her experiences to uplift others. Throughout her adult life, she volunteered with organizations that meant the world to her, including the American Cancer Society, Transplant Life Foundation, Donate Life, and Special Olympics. As the Local Coordinator for Special Olympics West Hartford, she poured her heart into the athletes and families she served, growing the program into one of the largest in the state. Her commitment, compassion, and joy touched countless lives.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, cats, crocheting, watching the Discovery Channel, trying new things, and making fart jokes. However, nothing brought her more joy than being "Aunt Lauren" to Parker and Hadley, who were the light of her life.
Lauren leaves behind her parents, Brenda and John; stepmother, Alison Maston; siblings Stephen (Megan), Kelly, and Tierney Maston; and her cherished niece and nephew, Parker and Hadley Maston. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles - Althea Ruderman, Paula Goodwin, Harry Goodwin III, Leea (Bryon) Bailey, Christa (Sandy) Goodwin-Babka, Shirley (Ernie) Stafford, Brian Maston, Heather (Scott) Summerer, and Susan Watson—and her cousins Madeline, Delaney, Taite, Andrew, Rebekah, Catherine, Levi, Corene, Amy, Cody, Jessica, Aaron, Ashley, Conor, Erin, Sydney, and Jordan.
She is reunited with her brother, Wayne Maston, grandparents Harry & Cora Goodwin and Francis & Margaret Maston, Uncle Mark Ruderman, and cats Gabby and Lucky.
We ask that you honor Lauren's memory by being kind, practicing empathy, and never taking yourself too seriously. A celebration of Lauren's life will be held early in 2026.
