Laurence Joseph Wylie, affectionately known as Joe, passed away suddenly on December 11, 2025, after a brief illness.
Joe was born on Clark Air Force Base and spent his childhood growing up on various Air Force bases, including locations in the Philippines, Texas, Georgia, Hawaii, and Colorado. He graduated from Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio, Texas.
Throughout his adulthood, Joe held various jobs, notably working at Best Buy in Metairie, Louisiana, where he survived Hurricane Katrina. His bravery during this time earned him recognition from both Best Buy and the Louisiana National Guard for rescuing numerous pets affected by the disaster.
In 1994, Joe married Kristen Marie Cencic, and together they welcomed a daughter, Jesikka Morgan Wylie, who sadly preceded him in death by just six days. Joe and Kristen divorced after a few years.
Joe was beloved by his colleagues at Costco Wholesale in Aurora, Colorado. Friends and coworkers alike remember him for his warmth, friendliness, and sense of humor.
He is survived by his father, John Wylie, and stepmother, Barbara Wylie of Grand Prairie, TX; his siblings, John "JJ" Wylie, Jr., of Las Vegas, NV, and Tiara Moske of Torrence, CA; his stepbrother, Clifton Collier, Jr. of May Pearl, TX, and stepsister, Kelly Collier of Cedar Hill, TX. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Marlee and Elliot Neiderwemmer, as well as his partner, Jane McCarty of Denver, CO.
A celebration of Joe's life is being planned for the spring of 2026. Please contact family members for details.
Joe's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
