Lawrence Dehle

1961 - 2026

Lawrence "Larry" Frederick Dehle was born to Marvin and Gerry Dehle on October 12, 1961 in Spokane, Washington and passed away at age 64 in Spokane on March 5, 2026, after a four-year battle with cancer. Larry grew up with deep roots in the region he'd never truly leave. He graduated from Mead High School and went on to Spokane Falls Community College, where he earned his associate degree and, as the family likes to note, found something far more valuable: Judy Mabbott, the woman who would become his wife of 41 years.

Together, Larry and Judy built a life and raised three daughters, Mykah, Karrina, and Nikkita, and lived to see that family grow with grandchildren Evelyn and Oliver French, who called him Poppa.

Larry's work ethic started early and was legendary. From a young age, he worked on his family's farm, gardening, haying, and raising sheep. At 16, he began washing trucks in the scale industry. Through grit and hard-earned expertise, he rose to regional manager of Inland NW Scales in Richland, Washington, eventually becoming co-owner. In 1993, he brought his family home to Spokane to continue building the business. When the company was sold, Larry stayed on in the industry he knew and respected, continuing his work with Scales Northwest, where his expertise left a lasting mark.

Away from work, Larry was most himself outdoors; hunting, downhill skiing, camping, motorcycling, and long days at the lake filled his seasons. He was a devoted Seahawks fan and enjoyed watching college basketball games while hanging out with friends, and watching them virtually with his family. He found satisfaction in woodworking, home remodeling, and riding his tractor across the family farm.

But what people will remember most about Larry was him showing up. He was the guy you called when something needed to be done. He came without fanfare and stayed until it was finished, giving his time freely to others.

That spirit extended well beyond his own property line. For many years, Larry served Spokane County 4-H as both a member and a leader and supported the Spokane Junior Livestock Association. He contributed meaningfully to the 49 Degrees North Race Organizing Committee and the FAST Alpine Ski Team. He served on the Flowery Trail HOA Board and Water Board and was an integral, reliable presence in that community.

Larry is survived by his wife, Judy (Mabbott) Dehle; daughters Mykah (Carl French), Karrina (Matthew Connolly), and Nikkita (Trevor Mertens) Dehle; grandchildren Evelyn and Oliver French; his mother, Gerry (Hensley) Dehle; siblings Kay (Dehle) and Walt Seidel, Sandra Dehle and Tim Jones, and Ted and Colleen (Bennett) Dehle; sister-in-law Teresa (Mabbott) Ball; father-in-law Francis "Jack" Mabbott; and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and the many people who simply called him Dad. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Dehle, and his mother-in-law, Sandra "Sandy" (Cantril) Mabbott.

Larry leaves behind a family who loved him, a community that counted on him and, true to form, a number of unfinished projects.

A celebration of life will be held with family and friends at The Vivacious Grove. A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Larry's memory to the 49 Degrees North Winter Sports Foundation, Spokane Junior Livestock Association, or Spokane County 4-H Scholarships.
