Send Flowers
On November 20, 2025, Lawrence Schiavi (Larry) unexpectedly passed away at the age of 75. He was a beloved husband, devoted father, and faithful friend and is survived by his wife Patricia Schiavi (nee Sloditskie), children Nick Schiavi and Katie Schiavi, daughter-in-law Jessica Schiavi, sister Maria Schiavi, nephew James Pastore, and grandchildren Amelia, Violet, and Nicholas Schiavi.
Larry is reunited with loved ones who passed before him including his parents Angelo Schiavi and Mary Schiavi, his brother Anthony DiGirolamo, his sister Anna DiGirolamo Pastore, and his beloved Uncle Guido Schiavi
Larry was born in Baltimore, Maryland, growing up in Federal Hill in South Baltimore. He attended Holy Cross School, graduated from Mount Saint Joseph High School in 1968, attended Penn State University (York), and graduated from Loyola College in 1972. Larry's strong work ethic and dedication to his family defined his life. He worked as a lab technician at Domino Sugar while in high school and while simultaneously helping at the family tavern, Lombardi's (now MaGerks). After college, he worked for nearly a decade at Bethlehem Steel Company as an engineer and computer programmer. He continued his career as a main frame computer programmer at Westinghouse Electric and finally at Alex. Brown & Sons through its transition to Deutsche Bank. In 2004, he assumed full responsibility for the family's rental property business in Federal Hill and Baltimore County.
Larry's early home renovation projects sparked a lifelong talent for craftmanship. He crafted furniture, installed custom millwork, and even got into landscape architecture. Above all, his greatest passion was travel. His first trip was a flight to Italy in 1955 where he met his paternal grandfather and his last journeys were a five-week trip through Australia and New Zealand and a three-week cruise around Japan and Korea in the past year. He cherished reading, especially daily newspapers, financial reports, and books about history and was passionate about making the perfect pizza.
The Schiavi Family will hold a Celebration of Life gathering at Kecco's Woodfire Kitchen, 114 Westminster Pike, Reisterstown, MD 21136 on Tuesday December 16, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Tributes at ~1:30 PM.
