Lee J. May III, of Pasadena, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 6, 2026. Born in Baltimore, MD on June 22, 1946, Lee lived a life defined by service, dedication to family, and deep commitment to his community.

Lee is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Wilma D. Robley. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Sara M. Sprouse (Matt), and a loving parent to Bennett C. Robley (Julie Brownley), and Rebecca J. Cusick (Michael). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Lydia, Nathan, and Kaya, whose activities and accomplishments he greatly enjoyed watching and supporting. Lee is also survived by his sister, Sr. Carol Ann May of Columbus, Ohio, along with many nieces and nephews from Maryland and Missouri who held a special place in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee John and Dorothy (Rhoda) May; his first wife, Donna Sue Welch May of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and his brother, Richard "Dick" May and Dick's wife Jackie.

Lee proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1973 and continued his service in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1973 to 1981. During his time in the Army, he served in Vietnam between 1969 and 1970. For exceptional courage and heroic action, he was awarded two Bronze Stars, the Armor Badge, and the Gallantry Cross with Silver Star from the Government of Vietnam, among other citations.

Following his military service, Lee built a long and respected career in operations, dispatch, and outside sales. He was known for his strong work ethic and the relationships he built throughout his professional life. In later years, he embraced retirement and enjoyed the opportunity to spend more time with family and pursue his many interests.

Lee enjoyed reading, traveling, country dancing, spending time at the swimming pool, and most especially attending sporting events for his grandchildren. His faith and service to others were central to his life. At Pasadena United Methodist Church, he faithfully served in many roles, including as a member of the Trustees and as Chairperson of the Church Council. He generously gave his time and talents to community service efforts, including supporting local Scouts and volunteering with Winter Relief.

Lee will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady leadership, deep love for his family, and his unwavering willingness to serve others.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Pasadena United Methodist Church (61 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, MD 21122) at 11 AM. Prior to the celebration, the family will receive visitors from 10-11 AM in the church sanctuary.
