Lelia Eleanor Johnson (née Ross), age 101, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, in Allen, Texas. Born on January 4, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she lived a long and meaningful life rooted in service, faith, and family.
Lelia was the firstborn in a family of seven siblings. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to her family, helping to raise three of her children while also keeping close ties with her siblings. She is survived by two of them: her brother Washington Ross; and her sister Margaret Morris, both of Augusta, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James E. Johnson, and their daughter Nancy A. Johnson.
Professionally, Lelia dedicated over 30 years of her life as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her career reflected her deep compassion and commitment to caring for others—a calling she fulfilled with grace and diligence.
Her Christian faith was a guiding force throughout her life. A devoted member of the United Methodist Church in various communities where she lived, Lelia actively participated in numerous caregiving groups within the church. Her involvement extended beyond worship; she was part of several church organizations that provided support to those less fortunate.
In addition to her professional and spiritual commitments, Lelia found joy in simple pleasures. She enjoyed word puzzles and crosswords and was skilled at crochet and knitting—pastimes that brought comfort to herself and others through the warmth of handmade gifts.
Lelia's legacy is one of quiet strength, enduring faith, and unwavering dedication to those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Memorial Gathering will be held on January 24, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church 315 North Church St. Service is to be zoomed
