Leon Leroy Quinn

1936 - 2025

Leon "Leroy" Quinn, 89, passed away on December 3, 2025, in Charlotte, NC, surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born on February 15, 1936, in Greenville, North Carolina, to Emma and John Quinn. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Sideris Quinn.

The youngest of six, Leroy grew up in Greenville and graduated from Rose High School before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he attended East Carolina College. It was during these years that he reconnected with his high school classmate, Mary Sideris. The two married on November 20, 1960.

Together, Leroy and Mary built a life rooted in family and lived and worked in Wilmington, NC, where they raised their daughters, later moving to Charlotte in 1985. Leroy retired from DuPont in 1991 after a long and dedicated career that took him to the company's locations in Kinston, Wilmington, and Charlotte.

Leroy is survived by his loving daughters Suzanne Quinn (Fred DeLuca), Karen Quinn Carroll (Chris), Johanna Quinn (David Czerr).

A devoted husband and father, Leroy led by quiet example. He encouraged education, independence, creativity, loyalty, and a strong work ethic—and he lived these values every day. Above all, family was his highest priority. "Family night," a cherished tradition that began nearly 35 years ago, became one of the great joys of his life. His daughters will continue this tradition in his honor.

Those who knew Leroy will remember his gentle humor, steady presence, and the simple, sincere way he cared for the people he loved. His life was marked not by grand gestures but by countless small acts of dedication, reliability, and love—leaving behind a legacy that will continue through his family.

In his final years, Leroy was supported by an extraordinary group of caregivers at Briar Creek Health Center, a team his family affectionately called their "Dream Team." Providing 24/7 care with unwavering patience, compassion, and dignity, they became an essential part of his daily life. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, CNAs, Medtechs, staff, and leadership for their kindness and attentive presence, which brought comfort and reassurance to Leroy and his daughters. Their devotion will never be forgotten.

Honoring Leroy's wishes, no funeral service will be held.
