Leon Wilde, 88, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026 in Walnut Creek, CA.
Leon Wilde was born in 1937 in New York City. He spent his childhood in Orangeburg, NY, and Closter, NJ. He graduated from Fordham University, where he studied pharmacy and went on to devote his working life to serving others as a pharmacist, pharmacy owner, and pharmacy manager in both retail and nonprofit settings.
Leon met his future wife, May, on a blind date for a Valentine's Day dance in 1958. They were married later that year, beginning a partnership that would last 67 years. Together, they built a close-knit family. He is survived by his wife May; his daughter Susan (Barry); his son Stephen (Constanze); grandchildren, Alex (Krissy) and Adam; and great grandchildren, Paige and Owen.
Leon owned a small neighborhood drugstore in New York and later became part-owner of an ambulance service. In 1979, he moved his family to sunny California, where he and May made their home and remained until his passing.
Service to the community was a lifelong value for Leon, instilled in him by his parents and reflected in everything he did. He was a volunteer firefighter and paramedic, taught CPR and paramedic courses, and, together with May, volunteered with the Red Cross to assist during times of disaster.
Leon was the trusted "go-to" pharmacist for family and friends, always ready to answer questions with patience and care. He befriended many neighbors—and virtually every dog he met. His generosity, knowledge, and warmth touched countless lives.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
