Leonard Josephson Obituary
Leonard Allen Josephson, age 85, passed away peacefully April 13, 2026 in North Kingston, Rhode Island surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 9, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of the late Henry and Rosetta Caroline Samuel Josephson.
Leonard graduated from Jefferson High School, San Antonio, Texas and earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 1962 from Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, predecessor to Texas A&M University. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He began his career and met his wife, Donna, when he was VP of Banking at First Federal in San Antonio, TX, and later worked in logistics and owned Compact Forwarding in East Greenwich, RI.
In his retirement years, Leonard loved traveling, spending time with his family at the beach, fishing and seeing everyone in his family happy. Aside from his amiable nature, his best way of showing his love was through his cooking skills and kosher meals. His cooking, generosity and loving nature to his family, friends, strangers and animals will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Cheryl Cook Josephson of North Kingston, RI, who were married for 60 years. In addition, he is survived by his loving family: sister Beverly Shifrin of Huntsville, AL and brother Frederick (“Ricky”) Josephson of San Antonio, TX; daughter Karyn Denise Gardner of Milton, FL; daughter Karissa Renee Josephson of West Warwick, RI; son David Samuel Josephson and wife Jessie of McCordsville, IN; son Drew William Josephson and wife Heather of West Warwick, RI; grandchildren Devin, Kendall, Hannah, Josh, Savannah, Adrianna, Wrenn and Kieran; he also had many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that he loved and who loved him.
In addition to his parents, Leonard was predeceased by his older brother, Stanley M. Josephson of Dallas, TX.
A gathering of family and friends is planned at the beach for a later date.
