Leonard A Pelonero 81, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026.
He was born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey to Leonard and Sarah Pelonero on May 9, 1944. Leonard's father died during World War II when he was 3 months old so he was never able to meet him. He went to Phillipsburg Catholic High School where he was an Altar boy, played the saxophone and of course basketball. He made a wish for a brother and soon Samuel LaValva was born. He loved being a big brother. They were both sports lovers and excelled at all sports.
Leonard met the love of life and soul mate Darlene when he was 16 years old. They both loved dancing and danced cheek to cheek for 61 years of marriage.
They got through the many hardships of life together. " I love being married- It's so great to find that special person you want to annoy the rest of your life" Len would say this with a wink and a smile.
They danced, went to concerts, played cards, watched movies, traveled the world including visiting his father's grave in France and riding in convertibles.
Leonard worked 3 jobs while getting his bachelor's degree in Accounting becoming a Vice President in Finance. He taught his family the importance of perseverance and hard work.
Leonard was a proud, wonderful supportive father who loved his children. He is their hero- now and forever.
Marie Pelonero-Martin and Ed Martin, Business Owner Sandy Sos and Chris Sos and of course his son Computer Engineer Keith Pelonero and Margot Pelonero. Leonard and Keith were not only father and son but best friends. They watched football together every Sunday, played fantasy football, watched movies and enjoyed each other's jokes. They even laughed the same. Leonard's most favorite days were with his beloved grandson Jacob. He went to his soccer, football, baseball games and drove him to school. He was so very proud of him and loved being a Pop- pop.
He loved his family and friends giving them unwavering support, love and laughter.
