With sadness, we announce that our son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Leonard Jensen Wegwart died on January 3, 2026 following a period of declining health.
Lenny was born on November 13, 1956 and graduated from West Davidson High School in 1975, where he played football, basketball, and baseball for the mighty Green Dragons. He attended Appalachian State University, after which he worked in his family's roofing business, had a long career at PPG, and worked to retirement with Food Lion.
Athletics continued to be a hobby in his young adult years as formal teams and informal gatherings brought opportunities to play softball and basketball. His lifelong passion and discipline was body-building through weightlifting and nutrition.
Lenny is remembered for loving humor, possessing infectious laughter, being a fast runner and roofer, having a great tan, for his generosity, being an avid Duke fan, and picking out the best of Hallmark cards for special messages to his loved ones.
Lenny leaves behind his 100-yr-old dad Wayne, mother Peggy, brother Gordy, sisters Ane and Tami, nephew Taje, and out-of-town nieces and nephews.
Memorial service to be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 1-3:00 p.m. at Friendship Church, 2840 Friendship Church Road in Lexington, NC. Gather with family and friends afterward to reminisce!
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in memory of Lenny, to Hospice of Davidson County.
