Leroy ("Lee") Walter Mattson, aged 81, passed away March 6, 2026 in Osseo, MN.
Lee was born August 22, 1944 to Walter and Gertrude Mattson (Hotakainen) in Wadena, MN. He lived there until the age of 5 when the family moved to Minneapolis. Lee graduated from North High School in 1962. Shortly after he joined the Army Reserves and served his country for 4 years.
Lee married Mary Lu O'Hanlon on April 2, 1971. They raised two wonderful children together, living in Dayton, MN. Lee worked for Hostess as a delivery driver before becoming "The Battery Man" as a battery distributor for Interstate Batteries, Centennial Batteries and Direct Battery before retiring in 2017. Lee enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his friends and family.
Lee is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Lu; his son Brian Mattson (Kim) of Birmingham, AL and his daughter Melissa Mattson (Riley) of Princeton, MN; his granddaughter Lindsey Mattson of Mankato, MN and grandson Alex Mattson (Sadie) of Erie, PA. He was proceeded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on May 28, 2026 at Word of Peace Lutheran Church, 21705 129th Avenue North in Rogers, MN 55374. A reviewal will be held at 1:00pm, with a service at 2:00pm. Light refreshments to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
