Lesley Anne (née Thirgood) Davis, [a lady never tells her age], passed away on February 11, 2026, in Spring, Texas. Born in New South Wales, Australia, Lesley believed the world was meant to be seen and that life was meant to be toasted.

She began her career in Sydney as an assistant director in television commercials and documentary films before traveling to the United States, where she worked at the Australian Embassy in Washington, D.C. Though she originally intended to continue on to England, her plans changed when she reached out to the Texas-born Army pilot she had met at the Texas Tavern in Sydney while he was on leave from Vietnam. They married in 1970 and settled at Fort Hood, where she became famously known for giving fellow drivers the one‑fingered salute from behind the wheel of her husband's gold Corvette.

The couple later moved to Houston, where Lesley became a fixture of the city’s 1970s radio scene—first with KILT and later with KPRC as host of “The Lesley Davis Show,” airing weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon. It was said that listeners would “love Lesley Davis sight unseen” because she “always spoke her mind, whether on sex, politics, or pets.” With her unmistakable Australian accent and a gift for conversation with absolutely anyone—from sports icons to local politicians, international figures to CIA officials, and even Charlton Heston—Lesley delivered sharp, spirited commentary that captivated audiences across Houston.

Lesley loved to travel and had a special fondness for the slopes of Beaver Creek, Colorado, and the lively atmosphere at Pepi’s in Vail. In recent years, she delighted in European river cruises, immersing herself in the food, culture, and charm of each port of call. Her zest for adventure and appreciation for the “spirited” side of life will be remembered every time a glass is raised in her honor.

She is survived by her daughter Meagan (Tex), her son Andrew, daughter‑in‑law Sarah, granddaughter Lexi, granddogs Grover and Bear, sisters Karyn and Diane, brothers Mark, Philip, and David, a large and loving group of Texan and Aussie nieces, nephews, and grands, and countless fabulous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna May (née Lind) and George Thirgood, and her brother, Peter Thirgood.

A Texas‑sized celebration of life—fitting for such an unforgettable personality—will be held at the Angry Elephant in Magnolia, Texas, in early March. Later in 2026, Lesley will return to her Australian homeland, where her ashes will be scattered off the Sydney Heads before a second celebration of life in The Rocks.
