Leslie James Gordon, Jr., age 76, passed away on April 15, 2025, at his home in Lexington, New York, with lung cancer. Born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1948, to Leslie James Gordon, Sr., and Elizabeth van Brederode Gordon, Leslie spent his formative years in Whitehall, New York. He graduated from Whitehall High School in 1967.
Following his graduation, Leslie served honorably in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1971. After completing his military service, he pursued higher education at Delhi Technical College and the State University College of New York at Oneonta. His lifelong pursuit became carpentry and construction work—a field where he found great fulfillment through creating with his hands and solving complex problems.
Leslie is survived by his four children: Jason (Suzie) of Massachusetts; Michael (Jean) of Connecticut; Seth (Genny) of Pennsylvania; and Felicia of New York. He also leaves behind three beloved grandchildren: Sage and Ada of Massachusetts and Cole of Connecticut. His siblings Susan (Brian) McLaughlin of Wisconsin and Charles Gordon of New Hampshire survive him as well. Additionally, he is remembered by his nephew Nathan Gordon of Massachusetts and niece Maureen (Shane) Thoen of Wisconsin.
Leslie’s memory is also carried forward by two former spouses: Dale Gordon, the mother of his three sons, and Irene Gordon, the mother of his daughter.
In accordance with Leslie’s wishes outlined in his will, his children triumphantly dispersed his ashes in the South Bay of Lake Champlain near Whitehall, New York—a place close to his heart.
