Lilia (Gizzarelli) DeVincentis, age 101, a former longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Friday, December 26, 2025 at Wilton Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilton, Conn.
She was born Liliana Gizzarelli in 1924, in Torre Dei Passeri, Italy. She married John DeVincentis in 1947 after World War II. Together, they immigrated to America from Italy and settled in Quincy, where she lived for seventy-five years.
A short time after arriving in Quincy, Lilia and Johnnie opened Johnnie the Tailor on Revere Road in downtown Quincy Square. Johnnie's was the go-to tailor in the city for over thirty-five years.
Lilia's joy for life came from providing a warm and loving home with home-cooked Italian dishes for her family to enjoy.
She was known for her impeccable sense of style, love for shopping, and ability to find the perfect item at a fraction of the price. Living in Quincy, Lilia became an expert at public transportation, especially the Red Line, which took her to her favorite shopping spot, Filene's Basement, and gave her access to all that Boston had to offer.
Together, Lilia and her husband raised three children - Linda Brodsky and her husband Samuel Brodsky, M.D., Guy DeVincentis and his wife Celeste, and Sandra Futterleib. She was also blessed to be "Nonna" to six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, on Monday, January 5, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
