Linda Delaplain passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026 in Eugene, OR, surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was the beloved wife of Jerry Delaplain for 61 years, having begun their life together at the age of 16 in 1964. Linda was a cherished sister to Gary Wright and a deeply loving mother to Mike Delaplain (Amy), Don Delaplain (Debbie), and Kristi Batchelder (Jed). Her greatest joy and proudest role in life was being "Mom" and "Grandma" to her nine treasured grandchildren, each of whom she loved dearly.
Linda was known for her gentle spirit and her remarkable ability to make others feel cared for, remembered, and valued. She expressed love through her hands, particularly through her passion for quilting and sewing. Each quilt she created was far more than fabric and thread, it was a gift of warmth, comfort, and love meant to be shared. Linda treasured a rich community of friendships, many of which grew from her love of golf at Shadow Hills Country Club, Mahjong and Pinochle games, and quilting as a founding member of the Shadow Hills Clubhouse Quilters and a member of the Eugene Modern Quilt Guild. She also spent over 30 years as an exceptional office general manager for the City of Eugene, forming deep and enduring connections along the way.
Linda found joy in life's simple pleasures: spring flowers, card games, birdhouses, snowmen, the soft sound of wind chimes, and time spent with her loyal dog, Brody. She delighted in life's meaningful moments, especially baking with her children and grandchildren, faithfully cheering at her children's sporting events, and sharing family camping trips. One of her final happy moments was quietly savoring a strawberry Italian ice at the hospital, a small but beautiful reflection of her peaceful and grateful nature. Linda found comfort in the thought of being reunited with her parents, Jack and Gladys Wright, whom she held close in her heart throughout her life.
She will always be remembered for her kindness, her creativity, and the gentle love she shared so freely with countless friends and family. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched and the love she leaves behind.
