Linda Louise Lewis was born on September 30, 1943 in Boise, ID, at the old St Alphonsus Hospital located on West State Street to mother, Lois Louise Lewis, (nee Mackrill) and father William "Bill" Lewis. Her father was in stationed at Fort Lewis, in Washington and Linda and mother Lois were able to stay with Bill at Fort Lewis until he was assigned to the European War area. When he was sent to Europe, Linda and her mother came back to Boise and lived with Lois' parents Paul and Mary Mackrill until Bill returned back to the states and mustered out of the service. Her Grandfather Paul Mackrill was above the age to serve in the War but being well educated in mechanics he spent the War years at Gowen Field. After the war her parents moved to Ontario, OR and she began her love of horses when the family settled into a home near the Malheur Fairgrounds. The family grew with brothers Richard and Donald being born. Every morning as a child during calving season she was responsible for taking care of the baby calves before going to school. She spent her school years in Ontario first at Lindbergh Elementary, then Ontario Jr. High and graduated from Ontario High School in 1961. She also attended College of Southern Idaho in continuing her education. She had a lifelong friendship with Kay Warrington, (nee Koopman) and they both rode their horses around Ontario and after Linda's family bought the Malheur Game Farm when it was closed by the state she would ride into town and her and Kay would ride every day during the spring, summer and fall, not so much on the cold winter days.

On about October 1, 1959 Linda met George Gilmore and the two of them became inseparable and they were married on June 9, 1961 in the First Baptist Church in Ontario and were happily married for over 64 years. Two wonderful children, both born at Holy Rosary Hospital in Ontario were welcomed into the family with son Gregory Allen Gilmore arriving in February of 1963 and daughter Shawna Louise Gilmore born in July 1964. She moved to Boise in 1964 when her husband was transferred to Boise. Her first job outside of the home was in 1968 for Old World Arts in Meridian, ID where she worked in designing and carving entry doors for some of the fine homes in Boise: she was exceptionally good in this job and took pride in putting out beautiful doors, it was very hard work but she loved the work and the people she worked with. In 1972, Lillian Wilper encouraged her to join Idaho First National Bank. She worked in the Data Control Center, on west Main Street, where, they put all the transactions on microfilm every day, this was prior to computers, and she worked for the bank until 1976 when she once more moved with her husband, when he was transferred to Twin Falls, ID. During her time in Boise she reunited with Wanda McArthur, another schoolmate from her childhood, who also had two children that were the same age as Greg and Shawna, and they created many great memories of things they did together with and for the kids such as picking fruit in season, picking Asparagus and going to Garage sales with granddaughters Stacy and Kaylee on the weekends. Linda was always helping out when anything was needed and supported her children and grandchildren in the childhood activities such as Little League sports, dance team trips for Holiday parades by driving her kids and other team members, who lacked transportation to many towns in the Treasure Valley to participate in parades during their youthful years; she just cared deeply for all children. During the Boise years she purchased two wild mustangs from the BLM and did a great job in breaking them to ride, both became real nice horses. She loved scrapbooking, building photo albums for family and friends; we are continuing to work on the ones she was unable to complete, and gardening with grandson Steven in Twin Falls. She also always loved trips to the Oregon Coast so she could watch many storms come on shore.

Upon arriving in Twin Falls Linda began a career with Twin Falls County, becoming a Deputy County Clerk and handling all the payroll and insurances. She worked for Twin Falls County from 1976 through 1996 retiring in the latter part of 1996 so she could join her husband in their move to Las Vegas, she had many really great friends with whom she worked with at all her stops but the time at Twin Falls County was the most enjoyable, she worked with a special group in the Clerk's office and almost everyone was a real joy to work with, I often suggested that she run for the County Clerk position but she always said she didn't want to be involved with the politics and she loved what she was doing.

Linda became a "Sports fan" and enjoyed many varied events including NASCAR races, Horse racing at Les Bois Park, NCAA Final Four Basketball Tournaments, National Finals Rodeos, and of course always eager to join George in trips to the Boise State Football having been to football games in Boise, Pocatello, Logan, UT, Salt Lake City UT, Ogden UT, Reno NV, Las Vegas NV, Sacramento, CA, Chico CA, UCLA, Fayetteville AR and Tulsa OK and of course Kansas City where we watched the Chiefs from the Ameristar Box win many games. She has been to games in the old Bronco wooden stadium supporting the Boise Jr. College team before they became a 4 year college, the new stadium with the green turf and many on the "Blue". She also watched Bronco Basketball in the old Bronco Gymnasium and of course in Taco Bell and Extra Mile Arena.

After the move for George's job in Las Vegas they had several really nice trips and saw a huge part of the good old USA. They were able to visit every state with the exception of Alaska, Pennsylvania and Delaware. One of her favorite trips was the one to Bristol, Tennessee for a NASCAR race and she was also able to visit Greenup, Kentucky and visit the county courthouse to find information on her ancestors who had settled in that area. Another she really enjoyed was the trip to the New England area to celebrate our 54th Wedding Anniversary. The leaves weren't turning to the bright fall colors but the area we visited, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island and the upper part of New York was spectacular.

Linda is preceded in death by her Grandparents on the Mackrill and the Lewis side, her father William "Bill" Lewis, mother Lois Lewis, brother Richard Lewis mother-in-law Vivian Gilmore, father-in-law Richard Gilmore and of course her favorite brother-in-law Mike Gilmore who always kept her laughing.

Linda is survived by George Gilmore husband, Greg Gilmore son, Shawna Louise Gilmore-Dutt daughter, Jim Dutt son-in-law who she loved like a son, Don Lewis brother, Steven Dutt grandson, Teasha Dutt granddaughter-in-law, Stacy Dutt granddaughter, Austin Gilmore grandson, Kaylee Gilmore granddaughter, Alex Tovar great-grandson, Adam Lemon great-grandson, Lola Lemon great-granddaughter, Aron Lemon great grandson, Lyla Lemon great-granddaughter, Aric Lemon great grandson and Lexi Lemon great granddaughter Linda is also survived by her lifelong friends Kay Warrington and Wanda McArthur, and Diana Gilmore-Martin, who became the sister she never had.

Linda was a devoted animal lover and couldn't turn a sick or homeless animal away. When the final move to Boise from Kansas City occurred she had one kitty, Chico, upon losing him to some kind of animal attack she said no more animals but then Amy, our little Manx, arrived from a lady in Murphy and Linda was off to the races. She got another Manx, who she named Jack because he was always jumping on everything and she started feeding and doctoring the feral kitties who came to her door. She has probably been a foster cat mom to over 50 poor souls who found a safe haven filled with food for nourishment and taking care of their health needs when possible while under her care until she could find a forever home for them.

Memorials may be given to Ancora Hospice 401 N Whitley Drive, Fruitland, ID 83619, for the care that they gave to Linda and the family during this time or the Idaho Humane Society, 1300 So. Bird Street, Boise, ID 83709 in Linda's name, so a few more animals may receive care and possible adoption into a safe and loving home.

The family of Linda Louise Gilmore wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Phail, her family doctor and Dr. Wolfe at St Alphonsus who found the cancer in her liver that took her from us. We also want to give our sincere thanks to the Palliative Care unit at St. Alphonsus and Ancora Hospice crew who made Linda's last few days easier on her and the family with special thanks to Mindi Gibbens who was there for us at all times and for the care that Ray Holland provided after Linda passed on Friday morning, he arrived soon after we called and stayed with us until Cloverdale had taken Linda to the Funeral Home, he went above and beyond the call of duty.
