Linda "Lily" Howey, aged 77, passed away on April 11, 2026, in West Hartford, CT after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Born on September 6, 1948, in Hollywood, CA, Linda grew up in Hartford, attending Rawson Elementary School and Northwest Catholic High School. Following her graduation in 1966, Linda went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Hartford in 1970. There she met and later married Jeffrey Howey. In 1971, Linda began working for Day, Berry & Howard LLP as a Law Librarian, retiring in 2012 after just over four decades of service.
Outside of work, Linda was always busy. She was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in West Hartford, CT, where she participated in the church choir, prayer group, prayer shawl ministry and taught Sunday school. She was a member of a book club and a poetry club. She loved to read, draw, write, entertain and go to the theater, ballet and museums.
After moving to West Hartford with her husband and purchasing a home on the Boulevard in the mid 1970's, Linda became very interested in architecture and the history of the house. This passion inspired her to help found the Boulevard/Raymond Road Historic District. Her artwork remains the symbol of the historic district to this day - appearing on signs and plaques affixed to each historic home. From 1997 - 2008, Linda was a Commissioner for the Town of West Hartford Historic District Commission where she created and oversaw an Annual Historic Preservation Awards Program.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Katrina Howey (Erik Searles) and granddaughter Mara Searles of Malta, NY; sister, Janet (Frank) Lambert of West Hartford, CT; lifelong friend, Myrna Rabin and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ann (Del Greco) Knezevich and John "JPK" Knezevich.
She will be remembered by all who have had the pleasure of knowing her for her bright and cheerful personality, her lifelong drive for knowledge, her creativity and artistry and her devotion and compassion towards her family and friends.
A service to honor Linda's life will be held on May 2, 2026, at 1 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church in West Hartford, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association ( https://www.alz.org/).
