Linda Mainus

1948 - 2026

Linda Ann Mainus (Calleo), age 77, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, in Bakersfield, California. Born on November 11, 1948, in Stockton, California, Linda lived a life marked by unwavering faith, deep devotion to her family, and a heart full of compassion.

Linda was the beloved wife of Jerry Mainus for 44 years until his passing. Together they built a life centered around love, family, and faith. She was a devoted mother to three daughters: Amber Hagiwara (Stephen), Deana Ford (Jason), and Jennifer Mancilla (David). Her legacy continues through her six cherished grandchildren—LeeAnn Hagiwara, Jessie Hagiwara, Joshua Ford (Casey), Levi Ford, Gianna Mancilla, Isabella Mancilla—and her great-grandson Anthony Ford.

She is also survived by her two brothers, Tommy Joe Keeling and Peter Vincent Calleo Jr., as well as three sisters-in-law: Pat Brown, Ellen Kramme, and Birdie James. Linda's extended family includes numerous nieces and nephews and her godson Kevin Buck—all of whom were touched by her warmth and generosity.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Mainus; her mother Pearl Dean Keeling; and her father Peter Vincent Calleo Sr.

A woman of deep spiritual conviction, Linda was a faithful parishioner at Sacred Heart Church for over 50 years. Her love for God shaped every aspect of her life. She found joy in attending Mass and held fast to the belief that prayer could move mountains. Her greatest desire was for all of her family to know the Lord—a prayer she carried daily in her heart. Even through life's darkest moments, Linda's faith never wavered; she taught those around her to trust in the Lord and give Him glory for every blessing.

Linda found happiness in simple pleasures that brought people together. She loved cooking Sunday dinners for her family—meals that became treasured traditions filled with laughter and love. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren, listening to music, dancing with joy in her heart, and shopping with the kids. These moments reflected the vibrant spirit that made Linda so beloved by all who knew her.

Her compassion extended beyond family; she had a generous soul that reached out to others with kindness and grace. Whether offering a listening ear or lending a helping hand, Linda lived out the values she held dear every day.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that Mom's legacy lives on through the lives she touched so deeply. We will never stop missing her presence—but we hold tight to the promise of eternal life with her because of the faith she so beautifully embodied.

May our mother's memory continue to inspire love, faith, and unity among all who knew her. A Funeral Mass will be held on February 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 9915 Ramos Street. There will be a reception at Linda's home immediately following the service at 412 East McKee Road. Family and friends are welcome.
