Linda Joanne Melvin (née Stone), born on March 29, 1937, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, in Hartford, Connecticut. She was 88 years old.

Linda's life was marked by a spirit of adventure, dedication to family, and a deep appreciation for history and the natural world. After graduating from Colby Junior College in 1957, she pursued her dream of travel and service by completing training at the Eastern Air Lines Stewardess School in 1958. She then embarked on a career as an airline stewardess with Eastern Airlines, embracing the excitement of air travel during its golden age.

Following her marriage to Paul Melvin in 1962, Linda transitioned into a new chapter of life rooted in West Hartford, Connecticut. There, she worked as a medical and legal secretary before devoting herself fully to her role as a homemaker. Her greatest joy came from nurturing her family and creating a warm and welcoming home.

Linda was the proud mother of two daughters, Meg Melvin and Amy Truskoski (Melvin), and cherished her role as grandmother to Annabelle Truskoski. She also shared a close bond with her son-in-law, Aaron Truskoski. Linda was predeceased by her beloved husband Paul Melvin, as well as her parents, Frederic and Marie Stone.

A woman of many interests, Linda had a lifelong passion for ancient history and archaeology. She found joy in learning about past civilizations and exploring their stories. For over fifty years, she made annual visits to Sanibel Island, Florida—a place that became dear to her heart—where she indulged in one of her favorite pastimes: shell collecting along its sun-drenched shores.

Linda also expressed her love through baking, often filling her home with the comforting aromas of homemade treats that became treasured traditions among those who knew her.

Her legacy lives on through the memories held by her family and all who were touched by her warmth and curiosity. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.

At Linda's request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Linda's memory may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
