Linda Hillegas Price passed away in Austin, TX on August 10, 2025, with her beloved daughter and chosen family by her side. She was 86 in years, though she regularly reminded us that she was only 56 in her mind.
Born on February 9, 1939, Linda was the heart of her family and a light to all who knew her. She married William “Bill” Sloane Price in December 1960, and together they shared 64 years of devotion until his passing in 2024. While they often embodied the phrase “can’t live with them, can’t live without them,” their deep loyalty and respect for each other transcended time, differences, and the challenges of declining health.
Linda was a devoted wife and mother whose life centered around her family and the people she loved. She was an extraordinary friend, carrying a graciousness and warmth that made her presence unforgettable. Known for her wry sense of humor, her deep compassion, and her soul-filling wisdom, she had a rare ability to make others feel seen and valued. It was often said she never met a stranger and cherished connecting with people from all walks of life. She welcomed chosen family into celebrations and holidays and lived with a spirit of gratitude for the abundance of life despite its many challenges. Linda was a gifted writer with a brilliant mind, a lifelong dedication to learning, and a passion for personal exploration.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and their son, Scott Sloane Price. She is survived by her loving daughter, Melinda Price, and countless friends and loved ones who considered their lives better for having known her.
Linda’s strong will to live, her extraordinary generosity of spirit, and her abiding love for people will be remembered and celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She often joked that her epitaph might simply read: “She lived, she loved, she laughed, she cried—then one day she up and died, eager to see the other side.” She had a profound gift for cutting straight to the truth, always with love, wit, and wisdom.
Linda and Bill were interred together, reunited with Scott, at the Chapel of Our Saviour Columbarium in Colorado Springs, CO. Details are available upon request.
