Linda Lee Turner

1949 - 2026

Linda Lee Turner passed away February 26, 2026, after a brief illness. She is survived by her children Carolyn Schneiderman (Rick), Ashley Turner (Gretchen), and Amy Turner and her beloved grandchildren Jackson and Zoe Turner and Henry Schneiderman.

Linda was born in Montgomery, Alabama on October 9, 1949, to the late Edward and Jessie Lee. After graduating from Sidney Lanier High School, Linda married and began raising a family while she trained to become a nurse. Even as a full-time working mother, Linda always found ways to make her children feel special. Three separate birthday parties with homemade cakes every February. Hallmark Christmas mornings with handmade ornaments and treasure troves of toys. Easter egg hunts and hand-sewn Halloween costumes. Soccer games, church choir performances, piano and dance recitals, band concerts - she was there for every one. She opened doors to imagination through the books she taught her children and grandchildren first to read, then love. Her commitment to education and deep belief in civil rights and social justice fostered two generations of big-hearted critical thinkers.

As a neonatal intensive care nurse for more than 30 years, Linda cared for the most vulnerable with boundless empathy and strong, sure hands. She shepherded families through their most difficult hours, rejoicing with them when their babies got to go home and mourning with them when they did not. Her coworkers became friends, and then family, and their support for her during times of struggle can't be understated.

Linda was one of a kind. Her expressive face could tell whole stories with raised eyebrows, nose scrunches, and mouth quirks. She had a wicked sense of humor and a wink that always let you know you were in on the joke. She never minced words and raised cursing to an art. Her hands danced to the music like no one was watching. She kept her circle small, but she fiercely loved her family and those she counted as friends. Later in life, she loved old movies and nothing brightened her day like a trip to Cracker Barrel. Friends in the community where she lived her final years remember her as a sweet, funny, mischievous lady, a lover of bananas and ice cream, and a lifelong Alabama fan. Above all, Linda was always and unapologetically herself - and we loved her for it.

Linda was not one for ceremony and tradition in life, preferring to celebrate joyous moments and grieve losses in private. In honor of her wishes, the family asks that everyone she touched take a moment to remember Linda in your own way, whether its sharing a funny memory, moving your body to your favorite music, or eating a perfect banana.
