Lisa Jane McBride, 59, passed away peacefully at her home in Clintonville, Ohio, on May 9, 2021. Born on July 11, 1964, in Columbus, Ohio, Lisa spent her life rooted in the community that shaped her and to which she gave so much of herself.

Raised in Columbus by her devoted parents, Charles “Chuck” McBride and Darlene McBride, Lisa was a graduate of Whetstone High School, Class of 1980. From an early age, she embodied the compassion and selflessness instilled by her parents—qualities that would define her throughout her life.

Lisa was a loving mother who dedicated herself fully to raising her son, Trevor McBride Simmons. As a single parent, she embraced motherhood with fierce devotion and unwavering strength. She never married but chose instead to pour all of her energy into guiding and protecting Trevor through life’s challenges with boundless love. Her commitment to him was the cornerstone of her life.

Lisa’s heart extended far beyond her immediate family. She had a deep love for animals and found joy in caring for them throughout her life. Her nurturing spirit also led her to support troubled youth and guide those struggling with addiction—offering empathy without judgment and hope where it was needed most.

Her passions were many: walking through nature’s quiet paths, hiking under open skies, cooking meals that brought comfort to others, tending her garden lovingly, journaling reflections from the heart, and reading both literature and scripture. In later years, Lisa became a devout member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church, where she found spiritual grounding and community.

She especially cherished time spent near the ocean—its vastness reflecting something essential within her. Myrtle Beach held a special place in Lisa’s heart; some of her fondest memories were vacations there with her parents, Chuck and Darlene, her brother Christopher McBride—her closest sibling—and her sisters, Julie Watts and Kim McBride. In accordance with her wishes and love for the sea, Lisa’s cremains were released into the Atlantic Ocean off Cherry Grove Pier in Myrtle Beach in 2021.

Lisa is survived by those who loved her deeply: her beloved son Trevor McBride Simmons and his fiancée Kayla Albany Patterson-Griggs, sisters Julie Watts and Kim McBride, and many friends whose lives she touched with kindness. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles McBride; her mother Darlene McBride; and her brother Christopher McBride.

Lisa Jane McBride was one of the most protective people one could ever meet—a woman who stood firm for those she loved and gave freely of herself without hesitation or expectation. Her legacy is one of resilience, compassion, laughter shared over home-cooked meals, long walks under forested canopies dappling her hair, and an enduring love that continues to echo through those who knew her best.

This obituary was written in 2025 by her son Trevor McBride Simmons.

Don’t worry Mom—we’ve got it covered, don’t we? Sorry that the obituary is four years late… but I guess I really was all you had at the end.

With love and a heavy heart,

Your son and his fiancée,

Trevor and Kayla
