Loren David Hoxsie, 75, most recentoy of Mesa, Arizona, passed away January 15th, 2026, with his family by his side.

He was born May 6th, 1950, in Traverse City, Michigan to Larry and Verna Hoxsie. Larry's first words upon seeing his newborn son were, "His eyes look just like buckshot!" The name stuck and to his family and many friends Loren became "Buck". He graduated from Traverse City High School where he excelled in football and track. Later, with schooling in Horticulture from Michigan State University, his intentions of working on the family farm began to pale in comparison to traveling the U.S. via motorcycle, car and plane. He spent time exploring life in Connecticut and New York City and while living in Florida acquired the knowledge he used in a thriving beach concession business. Additionally, he participated in extensive training with American Airlines.

When Buck relocated to the U.S. Virgin Islands, he met and married his wife Cristina Caprotti, later welcoming their son Loren Hoxsie Jr. The three enjoyed a vibrant island life in St. Thomas. Many family members and friends created lifelong memories upon visiting. Moving to Key Biscayne, Florida was enriching for Buck as he and Cristina both worked for American Airlines, extending the priceless gift of travel to loved ones during times necessity and celebration.

Buck was proud of the fine schooling and balanced life he and Cristina provided for their son Loren, which resulted in a fine and loving young man of exceptional character. After the passing of Bucks parents, he relocated to their winter home in Mesa, Arizona where he enjoyed clear blue skies and sunshine near the Superstition mountains.

Until Bucks recent retirement from American Airlines, his quick-witted humor provided years of laughter for coworkers, passengers and friends. All who knew him understood well his carefree spirit and desire for freedom. We are thankful that his wish has been granted and know that his "return flight" was smooth.

Buck is survived by his wife Cristina Hoxsie, son, Loren Hoxsie Jr., brother, Denny Hoxsie (Judy) sister, Jennie Arguello (Lee Dake), sister-in-law, Gayla Hoxsie and many loving neices and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Larry and Verna Hoxsie, brother Ted Hoxsie, nephew, Tyler Hoxsie, in-laws Norberto and Juana Caproti, and sister-in-law Martha Caprotti.

A private ceremony was held.
