Loren V. Little, of Sacramento, passed away suddenly from a heart condition on Saturday afternoon, December 13, 2025, at 68 years old. He was born on October 14, 1957, at Hamilton Air Force Base in California.
Loren will be remembered for his many kindnesses to family and friends especially for taking such loving care of his mother, Margaret Bertschi. He was always there for his sister, helping take care of the household and quietly supporting daily life, from responsibilities large and small, including making the morning coffee. He also fully supported his nieces, taking care of their cars and any other needs, always ready to help in any way he could.
Recently retired, Loren spent most of his career as a medical courier, a job he dearly loved for the travel and sense of purpose it gave him. He took pride in knowing that delivering critical medications on time helped save lives. He enjoyed friendships with many of his coworkers and supervisors and often shared stories about their lives or funny events along the way. While he appreciated the work itself, his favorite route was close to home, crossing Donner Pass to visit Reno. At the Silver Legacy, Loren claimed the keno lounge from seven in the morning until midnight. Several times each year, he looked forward to meeting with his keno friends and especially reuniting with his player buddies Marree, Al, Christine, Dominic, and Barbara. They smile at the thought that, upon being greeted at the Pearly Gates, Loren might reply, "Not yet. I only need one more number for my eight spot."
Loren was predeceased by his father, Air Force Major Richard Little (Ret.), who passed away on September 11, 2022; his brother, Dwaine Little, who passed on March 22, 2006; his nephew, Everett Little, who passed on December 11, 2021; his brother-in-law, Anibal Santos-Rivera, who passed on June 7, 2015; and many beloved aunts (recently Fern Bertschi), uncles, cousins (recently Cecil Gray), and family members.
He is survived by his loving mother, Margaret Bertschi; his sister, Elizabeth Ann Santos; his nieces, Akemi Santos and Cierra Santos; his stepmother, Diana Little; his step-siblings, Kevin Eccles, Scott Eccles, and Jolene Eccles; and many cherished cousins, including Susan Gray, David Gray, Debbie Evoy, Heidi Bertschi, Kyla Bertschi, Marcia Bertschi, Leslie Thompson, and Kenny Taylor, along with extended family both in the United States and abroad. His niece Chelsea Jackson will also be remembered. His best friend, Jethro, was like a brother to him and will miss their daily phone calls. Loren's relationship with his girlfriend, Angie, was cut short as they were on a journey of getting to know each other and planning a future together. Loren's support and encouragement will be deeply missed. He was always enthusiastic about life's adventures, offering energy and a helping hand to those he cared about. Beth, Marcia, Anthony, Kyla, Gilbert, Ramesh, Nicole, and Alan will also miss his unselfish support that helped them enjoy their own adventures. Loren also cherished friends from his past and work colleagues, and he considered them family; they are not forgotten and will always be remembered with fondness. Each person held a special place in Loren's heart, and he loved them all deeply.
A memorial service will be private and held at a later time. We encourage everyone to share their memories of Loren in the guestbook.
Rest in peace, Loren. You are deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
P.S. We will keep up with your favorite TV shows and if they ever find something on Oak Island, we will let you know.
