Lorenzo Vonell Bonds Sr., transitioned unexpectedly on Thursday, April 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love,laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Born on April 14, 1965, in Gary, Indiana, Lorenzo was the son of Helen Moore and Lorenzo Bonds Sr. He was educated in the Gary school system and proudly graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1983. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. Following his military service, Lorenzo continued to sharpen his skills at Ivy Tech, studying auto repair which was one of many talents he would master over the years.
Lorenzo was truly gifted with his hands and his mind. Whether he was drawing detailed artwork freehand, designing tattoos, fixing cars, landscaping, painting, or cooking, his many talents were profound. If it needed to be done right—and done neatly—Lorenzo was your man. His attention to detail, love for cleanliness, and pride in his appearance were a priority for him. He believed he looked good and believed in looking good.
He had a deep love for music, the outdoors, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Lorenzo had a calm personality but if you knew him, you certainly witnessed his charming side. He still enjoyed social settings and could light up a room with his comedic wit. He enjoyed good conversation, laughter, and making people feel at ease.
Lorenzo was baptized at a young age and later rededicated his life to the Lord. In his adult years, he became an active member of Temple of Deliverance in Christ, where he faithfully served as an usher and volunteered to help with many projects. He helped to paint and execute several tasks in the renovation of the new TDC edifice. He loved reading his Bible and growing his relationship with God.
In 1985, Lorenzo began building a family with the late Samantha Hughes, and from this union he was blessed with two children, LaTisha Bonds and Lorenzo Bonds Jr., who were among his greatest joys and proudest accomplishments.
He faced and overcame many challenges in life as well as accomplishing many of life's triumphs and victories with determination and pride. His artistic talents and unforgettable personality will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Lorenzo was preceded in death by his mother, Helen (Jesse) Moore; his father, Lorenzo Bonds Sr.;
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, LaTisha Bonds and Lorenzo Bonds Jr.; his stepmother, Sybil Bonds; his siblings, Virginia Over, Sarah Jackson, Jesse Moore, Ray Moore, Jana Bonds, LaKisha (Ken) Jordan, Yolanda (Jonathan) Tolliver, and Brian (Whitney) Bonds; his grandchildren, Lorina Bonds, Levi Bonds, Violet Smith, and Roman Smith; a special niece, Akiatia Allen; and a special friend, Charlene Thomas; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
