November 21, 1937 - February 5, 2026

Lorne Fontaine Holtmeier, 88, of Salem, Oregon, passed peacefully into the presence of his Savior on February 5, 2026. After a life deeply rooted in faith and family, he was reunited with the love of his life, Helen Holtmeier, forever dancing together again.

Lorne was born November 21, 1937, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Gordon and Elfia Holtmeier.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his brother Curtis Holtmeier (Carla); his children David (Alleyne), Daniel (Tammy), and Jennifer (Cliff); his grandchildren Michelle, Carissa, Heather, Holly, Hannah, and Clay; several great-grandchildren; many cherished nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

Lorne loved Jesus above all else. When asked his life advice, his answer was simple: love Jesus and live for Him. His faith was the center of his life, and he loved his church family at Outward Church, especially Pastor Matt's preaching and worship, for him the louder the better!

He found joy in road trips to Wallace family reunions, always ready for a mocha and able to name every Starbucks stop from Salem to Carlsbad. He also loved the quiet beauty of the Metolius River, a place made special by the memories he shared there with his beloved Helen. He especially loved trains, a fascination that never faded with age. An avid animal lover, he spent his early life raising horses and always had a dog by his side as his best friend.

His greatest pride was his family. He never missed a chance to cheer on his great-grandchildren in choir concerts and sporting events. Even when he could not be there in person, he always asked about it afterward or watched the videos. He was their number one fan and will continue cheering from heaven alongside their great-grandma.

A celebration of life honoring Lorne's reunion with Jesus will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Outward Church Youth Ministry, helping inspire the next generation to love and live for Jesus.
