Louis Arden Gale Sr., 65, died in Savannah, GA on October 10th, 2025. He was born in New Orleans, LA on July 28th, 1960 to Esther Marsh Gale and Richard Adam Gale. Louis attended Clemson University before joining the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania. He married his wife, Mary Rebecca Gale, on September 4th, 1986 in Las Vegas, NV, and they spent several years traveling across the US before settling back on the east coast and having three children, Mary Catherine Sears, Louis Arden Gale Jr. and Samuel McKinnon Gale.
While his wife was occupied with work and attending college to become a nurse, Louis spent much of his time with his children, taking them on long walks with their dog and helping them tend to a garden in their backyard. In his spare time, he could often be found in his favorite rocking chair watching true crime television shows with a cup of coffee in his hand. He loved music and would frequent open mic venues to sing alongside live bands.
Louis is survived by his wife, Mary Rebecca Gale; his daughter and two sons, Mary Catherine Sears, Louis Arden Gale Jr. and Samuel McKinnon Gale; his sisters, Marsha Gale and Lisa Gale Labar; his half brother, Richard Jr., his stepmother, Ellinor Gale; and his cousins he lived with growing up; Robert Marsh Jr., Katherine Marsh Wolfram, Will Marsh, Cynthia Marsh Cook, and Sue Marsh Hardin. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Esther and Richard Gale, his aunt and uncle, Polly Padgett Marsh and Robert Marsh Sr., and his cousin Woody Marsh.
A funeral for Louis is being held at Mt Olivet Baptist Church at 608 Black River Rd, Camden, SC 29020 on December 31st, 2025 at 1:00 PM. It is followed by a brief graveside service at 3:00 PM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229.
