Louis was born on May 1, 1934 in South Amboy, NJ to Louis and Madeline Pazienza. He passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026.

Louis joined the Navy to pursue his love of the sea. After his honorable discharge, he attended and graduated Michigan State University. During this time he married Evelyn Thoman. After graduating, they moved to Point Pleasant, NJ where they grew their family to include 5 children.

While his children were small, Louis founded the Point Pleasant Hockey Club, and coached his sons' hockey teams. He also created an "equipment exchange" out of his home, where local boys could come donate, pick up or exchange used hockey equipment. His goal was to make the sport of hockey affordable to any child who wanted to play, regardless of the family's financial situation. He impacted many young lives in Point Pleasant thanks to this initiative.

Louis was a Biology teacher at Lakewood High School, retiring in the 90's. Many of his students, now adults, fondly remember "Mr. Paz" as their favorite teacher.

Upon retiring, Louis couldn't sit still. He decided to return to the sea, this time as a U. S. Merchant Marine, based out of Lake Superior. He enjoyed the camaraderie with his fellow seamen, and loved telling his family stories of his time on the Great Lakes. But he could not stay in one place for too long. He lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota before settling in Summerfield, Florida with his daughter, Joanne, where he has resided for the last 15 years. Joanne made those years very comfortable for him, and he enjoyed her company, and all his Florida family and pets.

Louis is predeceased by his wife, Evelyn, his sons, Thomas and William (Kerry), son-in-law, David Coyne, and his soul-cat, Blackie. He is survived by his children, Joanne Coyne of Summerfield, FL, Andrew Pazienza of Dunnellon, FL, Jennifer Slater (Mark) of Blairstown, NJ, sister, Janice Pazienza of Mount Pocono, PA, and too many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to count!

At Louis's request, there will be no services.
