Louise Nicole Garvey

1961 - 2026

Louise Garvey, 64, of Los Gatos, California, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 2, 2026, just 14 hours into a 15-hour flight from Sydney, Australia, to San Francisco. She had been visiting family in her beloved home country and was eagerly looking forward to returning home to her family in California.

Born on December 14, 1961, into a dairy farming family in New South Wales, Australia, Louise grew up surrounded by animals and developed a deep love for them. She became a talented equestrian, competing successfully and winning numerous awards throughout the state of NSW during her youth.

After graduating from Nowra High School, Louise pursued her passion for caring for others by enrolling in the Royal Prince Alfred School of Nursing in Sydney, where she trained to become a registered nurse.

It was during a vacation in Hawaii that she met the love of her life, Scott Garvey, on the sands of Waikiki Beach. Following her heart, she moved to Los Gatos, California, to build a life with him. The couple married and enjoyed 43 cherished years together. Louise continued her nursing career for the next 25 years while devotedly raising their three sons: Timothy, Steven, and Nathan.

After retiring from hospital and corporate nursing, Louise founded her own mother/baby service, where she provided compassionate care for newborns and offered invaluable education and support to first-time mothers in newborn care and feeding. Her gentle expertise and nurturing spirit touched countless families during this rewarding chapter of her life.

Though she made her home in the United States for decades, Louise remained deeply connected to her Australian roots, returning often to visit family and maintain the close ties that meant so much to her.

Louise was preceded in death by her youngest son, Timothy. She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Scott Garvey; her sons Steven Garvey (Aria) and Nathan Garvey (Katie); her cherished grandsons Luke and Jay; her granddaughter Sophia; and a wide circle of family and friends in both Australia and the United States who will forever remember her warmth, strength, and loving presence.

A celebration of Louise's life will be announced by the family in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to organizations supporting maternal and newborn health or equestrian programs for youth. Louise's legacy of care, family devotion, and quiet strength will live on in all who knew and loved her.
