Lucille Jean Fermon
April 11, 1945 – February 6, 2026
Lucille Jean “Lucy” Fermon, age 80, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, in Round Rock, Texas. She was born on April 11, 1945, in Bangor, Maine, and lived a life defined by compassion, resilience, devotion to family, and a joyful sense of humor that touched everyone who knew her.
Lucy was an incredibly caring, kind, and funny mother, nana, devoted dog lover, and treasured friend to so many. Her warmth and generosity made people feel instantly at home, and her laughter was a constant source of comfort and connection for her family.
She completed her primary and high school education in Waldoboro, Maine. As a young woman, Lucy pursued nursing school, driven by a natural instinct to care for others. Though she did not complete her studies, she made a deliberate and loving choice to dedicate herself fully to raising her family at home—a decision that reflected her values and the depth of her devotion to her children.
Lucy was an exceptional homemaker, a loving wife, and a doting mother. As her children entered high school, she returned to the workforce as an office manager, a role she held with pride and dedication until after the passing of her beloved husband. In her later years, Lucy embraced one of the greatest joys of her life—being a patient, loving, and endlessly fun nana and great-nana to her grandchildren and great-grandson, who were the center of her world.
Lucy shared a special bond with her husband, Robert “Bob” S. Fermon, through their love of professional drag racing. Together, they spent many memorable days at the race track, where Lucy worked in the control tower as a timing operator and loved their family time together with the thrill of racing.
Lucy’s life was also shaped by early hardship and extraordinary love. After the heartbreaking loss of her parents, Alonzo and Lena O’Dell, she entered foster care as a child. Years later, she was adopted by Frank Turner—known lovingly as “Bampa”—who provided her with stability, guidance, and great love. This experience deeply influenced Lucy’s compassion for children and families, and her lifelong belief in the power of care, patience, and chosen family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. (Bob) Fermon; her parents, Alonzo and Lena O’Dell; her foster father, Frank Turner; her foster sister, Gail Turner; and her parents-in-law, Esther and Wilbur Cunningham, and Albert and Barbara Fermon.
Lucy is survived by her son, Dan Fermon; her daughter, Heather Siewert; her grandchildren, Ashley Coder, Ryan Coder, Robert Fermon, and Rachel Fermon; her great-grandson, Niko Rodriguez; her brother- and sister-in-law, Mickey and Renata Fermon; her sister-in-law, Judi Dalphond; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
A celebration of Lucy’s life will be held this summer at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody, Massachusetts, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. A specific date will be announced in the coming months.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made in Lucy’s memory to Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine, honoring her personal journey through foster care and adoption, and supporting families and children who deserve the same love, stability, and opportunity that Lucy cherished so deeply:
