Lucinda "Cindy" VanMatre, 73, passed away on December 7, 2025, in Evansville, Indiana. Born on July 19, 1952, in Bakersfield, California, she lived a life marked by devotion to her family and a warm-hearted spirit that touched all who knew her.

Cindy dedicated many years of her life working at Buy Low, where she built lasting relationships and eventually retired. Her strong work ethic and commitment were evident throughout her career where she was able to retire debt free.

She was a devoted mother to her daughters Angela Falletti (Justin) and Amber Carroll (Bryan), and she carried the memory of her beloved son Brian Burton close to her heart. Cindy cherished her role as a grandmother to Jazmine Burton, Jacob Carroll (Paige), and Tessa Vermillion. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandson Lennox. She also held deep affection for her many nieces and nephews.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ethel Davis; her son Brian Burton; and her sister Ellen McColpin.

She was a Christian Lady who Believed in God and couldn’t wait to go see her son and Daddy in heaven upon her passing. She found joy in simple pleasures especially spending time with her Grandson and his wife along with their two beautiful children. Cindy had a special fondness for dining out at Taco Tierra and Asian Star, two of her favorite restaurants. Her apartment was lovingly adorned with an extensive collection of cow figurines a quirky passion that brought smiles to those who visited.

Known for her generous heart, Cindy would do anything for those she loved. Whether it was offering gifts to her grandchildren (great-grandchildren) or simply sharing a meal together with family or friends, she made every moment count. Her kindness and unwavering love will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.

May Cindy’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
