It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Lucy Fuentes Santiago, who departed this life on March 29, 2026, at the age of 72 in Avon, Connecticut.
Lucy was born on April 18, 1953, in Añasco, Puerto Rico, to Clemencia Rios Cuevas and Ramon Fuentes Sr. She built a beautiful life between Hartford and Willimantic, Connecticut. Lucy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt whose presence brought warmth, love, and strength to all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Lucy dedicated herself to her family, her faith, and her community. She was known for her kindness, humor, resilience, generosity, and unwavering strength. Lucy had a deep love for nature and found joy in life's simple yet meaningful moments. Her caring spirit and ability to uplift others left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Lucy is lovingly remembered by her children: Jose Fuentes, Melissa Mahon, and Jorge Cortez; her brother Ramon Fuentes Jr.; her sisters Sergia and Madeline Hernandez; as well as a host of cherished nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her mother Clemencia Cuevas; her beloved husband Luis Santiago; her sister Rosa Henry; and her brothers Jose Roman and Herman Hernandez.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 10 at 1:00 PM at Crossroads Community Cathedral located at 1492 Silver Lane in East Hartford, Connecticut. All who knew and loved Lucy are welcome to attend this gathering to honor her life and legacy.
