Mrs. Lucy Platek (née Evans), 86, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, in Amityville, New York. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Lucy left behind a legacy of love, compassion, and quiet strength that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Born on December 16, 1939, in Liverpool, England, Lucy was the youngest of five siblings—Beatrice, Edward, Frank, and Eric. Her early years in Liverpool shaped her resilient spirit and warm heart. In 1965, while visiting New York City, fate intervened when she met Richard Platek at a dance. Their connection was immediate and enduring; just nine months later they were married—a union that would last for nearly six decades.

Lucy and Richard built a life together rooted in love and mutual respect. Over their 59 years of marriage, they raised four children: Andrew, Rick, Dania, and Mark. Lucy's devotion to her family was unwavering. She found joy in the everyday moments—caring for her loved ones with tenderness and grace. Her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, warmth, and the comforting presence of pets she adored.

A woman of quiet resilience and selflessness, Lucy always put others before herself. Whether offering a listening ear or a helping hand, she gave freely without expectation. Her smile remained constant even during difficult times—a testament to her enduring optimism and inner strength.

Lucy had a deep affection for animals and taught those around her that compassion knows no species. Her love for pets was matched only by her love for old movies and the peaceful winters she spent in the Florida Keys. These simple pleasures brought her great happiness and reflected her appreciation for life's gentle rhythms.

She is survived by her beloved husband Richard; their children Andrew, Rick, Dania, and Mark; grandson Quin; daughter-in-law Jenny; son-in-law Chip; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives were touched by her kindness.

Lucy Platek will be remembered not only for the love she gave but also for the way she lived—with humility, humor, and an open heart. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and serve as a lasting reminder of the power of compassion.
