Lula Faye Cunningham

Lula "Faye" Cunningham was born on September 29, 1941, in Gary, Indiana, where she was born, raised, and built a life filled with faith, family, and unforgettable personality. She graduated from Froebel High School in 1962 and later retired from the Division of Family and Children after many years of dedicated service.
Faye lived life boldly and unapologetically. She loved to read and spoke her mind with confidence, never hesitating to let you know exactly how she felt — and those who knew her wouldn't have wanted it any other way. She enjoyed dancing, shopping at Macy's, and treating herself to a good meal at Red Lobster, one of her favorites. She appreciated the finer things in life and carried herself with strength, dignity and style.
Above all, Faye loved the Lord and dedicated her life to Him. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her journey in this thing called life.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, four sisters, and three brothers.
She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory her children, Lisa and Lonnell; granddaughters, Fiana, Kai, Lonay, and Ashley; grandsons, Lonnell Jr. and Leandre. She is also survived by her sisters, Etta Nichols and Maryann Reedus, and her brother, Percy Nichols, along with a host of great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Faye's life was a blessing, her love was a gift, and her legacy will continue through the generations that follow. Though she will be deeply missed, we celebrate a life well lived and a woman who truly left her mark on everyone she met.
Visitation Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. All service at New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church 1545 Waite Street Gary, Indiana 46404. Royce Thompson Pastor and Rev. Damion Miller II officiating.
