Luna K. Pattela passed away on December 26, 2025, at the age of 56. She was born on August 20, 1969, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Luna was the daughter of the late Rao R. Pattela, Esq., and Koteswaramma (Eswari) Pattela, who survives her. Also survived by her brothers, Raghunath and Chand, and many cousins in India, along with a wide circle of friends and colleagues.
She grew up in Bryn Mawr and later lived in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Luna graduated from Radnor High School (Class of 1987), earned her undergraduate degree from Temple University in 1991, and received her law degree, from Temple University School of Law in 1994.
For 30 years, Luna served as a public defender and was deeply committed to helping others. Her work helped bring meaningful changes to the mental health system in Philadelphia, which shaped how it functions today.
Outside of her career, Luna loved spending time with friends, traveling abroad, and cooking. Her passion for food led her to earn a degree in the culinary arts, an achievement she was proud of and enjoyed sharing with those around her.
Luna will be remembered for her compassion, selflessness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with family on Saturday, January 24th, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a Memorial Service to follow at the D'anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008.
